Can you ever have too much of a good thing? In the case of the accessories for the Ford Bronco, the answer is surely not!
The Bronco is taking a strong jab at their main competitor, the Jeep Wrangler, with their heavy accessory lineup. With over 200 accessories in their arsenal, Ford has certainly thrown down the gauntlet.
With features like lift kits and LED light bars for the off-roaders and hefty roof racks and floor mats for the weekend warriors, there is certainly something for everyone. Ford says there are more than 200 available factory-backed accessories for Bronco 2– and 4-door models, and more than 100 accessories for Bronco Sport models.
According to Ford’s July, 2020 Press Release, “An all-new experiential-based equipment series provides unique flexibility to align capability with the adventure interests of each customer. Seven unique Bronco series are offered, with matched color and trim combinations. When combined with four content packages, numerous available options, 11 color choices and more than 200 dealer-installable accessories, personalizing an all-new Bronco SUV has never been easier. Series range from a base Bronco, a no-frills SUV for those who want to customize their own, to Big Bend™, Black Diamond™ and Outer Banks™ with a variety of options and colors, topping out with Wildtrak™ and Badlands™ for more extreme off-road adventuring. A limited-production First Edition™ will be offered at launch.”
With so many accessories out there, it is almost impossible to list them all. However, we are going to take a stab at some of them. In a recent MotorTrend article, the Bronco touted accessory highlights such as tubular doors, roof racks, auxiliary lighting, bead-lock wheels, and bikini tops. These are just a few of their offerings for customers interested in the Bronco.
More notable accessories include dashboard bolts for mounting for phones, GoPro or other dash cams, etc. Also provided is a six-aux switch bank at the top-center of the windshield frame. These switches connect to factory-installed wiring throughout the car where owners can mount lights and other accessories. Another exciting accessory is a slide-out tailgate/table that retracts into the cargo area.
If you are a “do-it-yourselfer”, Ford has made it easy for you to customize your Bronco according to your preferences. They have included special fasteners all around the vehicle to easily attach accessories yourself. There are approximately 42 interior and 12-18 exterior fasteners on the Bronco.
If you are not inclined to do it yourself, these accessories can be installed either in the factory or at the dealership.
One last perk with the Bronco…..when you purchase a new 2021 model, dealers are not directly charging installation fees for the hundreds of accessories available. This is part of the Blue Oval’s new program called Dealer Installed Options, or DIO. Bronco buyers will be able to choose their accessories when designing their vehicles. The buyer can choose to bundle the cost of the DIO into the Bronco’s financing.
The DIO program does have a few exceptions. Buyers can only choose to bundle the DIO into financing at the time of purchase. After taking delivery of the Bronco, the customer doesn’t have this financing option. They must cover the accessory costs themselves if they choose the dealership to install them. In addition, the wheels are not a part of the DIO program.
With all this good news for Bronco fans, there is just one more question to ask….. Can you stand it?
